Filtered air is supplied vertically into the enclosed working zone, while return air exits through the lower curtain openings. Soft wall clean booths are commonly used for contamination-sensitive manufacturing, laboratory operations and temporary or expandable clean areas where fast installation and flexible configuration are required.

2. What is the difference between a soft wall and hard wall clean booth?

The main difference is the enclosure. Soft wall clean booths use flexible PVC curtains, making them lighter, easier to install, relocate and expand. Hard wall clean booths use rigid panels and generally provide greater enclosure stability and more controlled environmental separation.

Soft wall designs are typically preferred for flexible or changing production layouts, while hard wall systems are better suited to permanent installations requiring greater environmental control.

3. What cleanliness class can a soft wall clean booth achieve?

Soft wall clean booths can typically be designed for ISO Class 5 to ISO Class 8 clean environments, depending on the booth size, FFU quantity, filter efficiency, airflow rate, ceiling coverage and surrounding room conditions.

Higher cleanliness levels generally require greater HEPA-filtered ceiling coverage and sufficient clean-air changes. Because each project has different dimensions and operating conditions, the required FFU quantity and layout should be determined according to the target cleanliness class and application rather than using a fixed configuration.

4. Can a soft wall clean booth be relocated or expanded?

Yes. Relocation and expansion are two of the main advantages of a soft wall clean booth. Its modular frame and flexible curtain enclosure allow the booth to be modified more easily than a permanent rigid-wall cleanroom.

Depending on the original design, the booth can be disassembled and relocated, or expanded by adding frame sections, curtains and additional FFUs. Caster-based mobile configurations are also available for applications requiring more frequent movement.

For future expansion, it is recommended to consider the expected booth size, FFU capacity and electrical requirements during the initial design stage.

5. What curtain materials are available?

Standard soft wall clean booths typically use transparent PVC curtains, while ESD PVC curtains are available for applications requiring electrostatic control, such as electronics and precision assembly areas.

Curtain thickness, transparency, overlap and hanging configuration can be selected according to the application. The flexible curtains provide physical separation from the surrounding environment while allowing convenient personnel or material access and visibility into the clean working area.

6. How many FFUs are required for a soft wall clean booth?

The required number of FFUs depends on the booth dimensions, target cleanliness class, FFU airflow capacity, ceiling coverage, internal equipment and process requirements. Therefore, there is no single fixed FFU quantity for all soft wall clean booths.
